I think the role of the pharmacist has definitely expanded, especially in the last 10 to 15 years, from dispensing roles to more direct patient care roles. So pharmacists are directly involved and can be a part of interdisciplinary healthcare teams. [INAUDIBLE] week positions, or working physicians, and clinics are in hospital settings. In addition to that, there's an overwhelming amount of patient education that pharmacists do, and also education healthcare professionals.
They can have different roles in pharmacy industry, drug marketing, drug policy, and also public policy loss in additional work with several healthcare professional organizations. They are definitely so many different opportunities that pharmacists can go into. The biggest one I think about first is clinical patient care. So clinical pharmacist, the world clinical, means direct patient care. So pharmacists can indeed see their own patients. So basically almost any field a physician has, as far as internal medicine or chronic management of disease things, farmers can participate in.
There's so many different roles academia and teaching, roles in government and public policy, and also legal. So pharmacists can have a role in big law roles as well too in federal corporations. Residencies are available throughout the country, and residencies really prepare pharmacists to assume direct patient care Clinical Pharmacy roles. So you can do a residency and more patient care areas, hospital clinics. There can be residents to train pharmacists to participate with health care insurance companies or managed care. They are residents that even trained pharmacists to meet new clinical care community pharmacies. What makes Xavier pharmacist standout is basically their care for the patient. So working with patients to assess all their needs and making sure that you have the appropriate access to their medication therapy is one thing that makes Xavier Pharmacist stand out.
