A broad general overview of the program. It's a 28 month program, a master's degree level. It has 12 months of a didactic phase, and 16 months of a clinical phase. The didactic phase is done here at Xavier University's campus. And the clinical phase is done in our partnership with Ochsner Health System, which consists of nine core rotations, two electives, and two externships.
Acceptance into the Xavier PA program is quite competitive. Our selection process is based upon a combination of your CASPA application, which also includes academic performance, GPA, GRE or MCAT scores, letters of recommendation, healthcare experience hours, personal statement and your performance during an in person interview. So students will expect to gain valuable hands on experience by obtaining over 2000 hours of clinical rotation experience. Our faculty are very dedicated to providing a high level of education to our students. We're very hands-on. We provide an integrative learning environment for students that is centered around patient care. So in the spirit of academic excellence, the mission of our PAA program is to basically educate students to become ethical, competent and compassionate physician assistants, who are dedicated to providing superior quality health care that contributes to the promotion of a more adjusted Humane Society.
