The mission of the College of Pharmacy is to prepare pharmacists to make an impact in the medically underserved communities, in particular, in African American communities to eliminate health disparities and to improve health outcomes, moving toward health equity.
College of Pharmacy at Xavier University really shows its commitment towards service. We have so many different drives so many different events going on. These are just a few ways that the College of Pharmacy shows our commitment towards service.
So the telehealth center will allow the students to learn to do monitoring of patients, who have chronic illnesses. They'll be talking with them about their condition. Educating them about the medicines that they are taking to ensure that they are compliant.
Our students can be involved in faculty research in several different methods or several different avenues. We have a Center of Excellence Grant that allows students who are in pharmacy school to be able to engage in research with a faculty member of their choice. So it could be in clinical research, it could be in basic research, drug discovery. A lot of different avenues by which the students can be exposed to research in that venue.
So the College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. And essentially, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education ensures that we are meeting certain standards, that our curriculum is sound, that we have all the facilities, and the resources that we need to provide quality education to our students. I did not have an opportunity to go to an HBCU, but I see how close the students are, the support that they get from each other, and the lasting support that you see among the alumni, who graduate from Xavier. They're always interested in coming back to share their experiences to support the students who are currently here. And you know, it's an invaluable experience to have them to come back and share. To let people know that you can make it, you know, whatever you do, you know, resilience is so important here, and I think that's what we see in our students.
